An often asked question is: How much power does CBus use, and what will that cost me per year?
The average CBus installation with 10 modules (with CBus power supply) will consume about 610 kWh of electricity and at an average of 18 cents per kWh, this works out about $110 per year to run.
The CBus dimmers also use some stand by power which equates to about $28 per year per dimmer module.
The Clipsal colour touch screen, will consume about 315 kWh of electrcity and at an average of 18 cents per kWh, this works out about $56 per year to run.
So it does depend greatly on the actual installation and what products you have, but the typical 50 square home with a full spec CBus system will cost about $278 per year in stand by electrcity. So I hear you say, wow isn't this system meant to save me power? If the system has been installed and programmed well, it will save much more that its own running costs by managing out side lights (turning them off after a set time, or at sun rise), controlling heating and cooling systems, and making sure that the many electrical devices in our homes today are only On when they are required.
