We have determined that the most equitable way to charge is in 2 ways, according to the skill level of the work to be performed and the skill level of the person performing it.
Standard business hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Closed for 3 weeks over Christmas / new year period, 1 week at Easter and a week prior to and including Melbourne cup day (making a 10 day break). Specific dates for each year available upon request. The charge out rates are reviewed each December, effective the following January. Should a junior technician be at a job but not providing saleable labor to the client, there is no charge for the junior technician’s time (this is a learning period, costs absorbed by the employer)
Technicians, The exact training, certifications and experience between staff members varies, however we have for simplicity created 2 categories of staff, senior technician and junior technician to provide a simple 2 tiered labor charge out table. Technicians will be allocated work on the basis of being able to competently carry out tasks required by the client.
Senior technician has at least Clipsal CBus manufacturers certification, electrical license or is an apprentice in training and various one-day training courses relating to security systems, audiovisual systems and other associated systems along with at least 3 years experience working in the industry.
Junior technician has at least Clipsal CBus manufacturer’s certification and some one-day training courses relating to security systems, audiovisual systems and other associated low voltage systems along with at least 1 years experience working in the industry under the direction of a senior technician.
Consultation and design fees
We do not charge for time spent to explain our services or to explain the systems installed in a clients premises or for the time to explain what could be achieved, however for any time spent to actually engineer and or document an outcome we do charge a fee. The fee depends on the time involved and the complexity of the outcome. Just like an architect charges for design irrelevant of if the design is constructed, we also charge for design irrelevant of if the design is implemented.
We constantly review and maintain the highest level of training and proficiency in our fields of endeavor, therefore providing value for money to our clients. Some requests for apparently minor programming changes may in fact be involved at a technical level and constitute a disproportionate amount of time to complete.
Warranty claims, we will rectify any faulty programming at our expense providing we have been notified within 30 days of the work-taking place. Beyond this period the client accepts that the programming is complete, functional and not faulty.
Consult, design and document service
As a general this will be about $2,000 of a standard project, discussion required to determine accurate costs.
Travel charge
Additional fee, above standard, for out of home range service.
Due to increasing fuel and labour costs we have had to implement a travel charge for service outside our home range. We are based in Geelong and service to the Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula and coastal areas as far as Torquay are within our home range. The travel charge applies to areas beyond Torquay along the coast, Melbourne and inland for areas such as Ballarat. Where possible we will program multiple jobs in on area, for example 3 jobs in Melbourne for the day and therefore not charge travel to any client.
Our areas of service are: Geelong, Surfcoast, Torquay, Aireys Inlet, Fairhaven, Lorne, Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Rye, Portsea, Sorrento, Queenscliff, Pt Lonsdale, Melbourne, Bellarine Peninsula, and every where in between these areas.
