iPad & iPhone Control

The iPod and iPhone have in recent times become ubiquitous in life. Now with the ''Apps'' including control of your home they have really become a must have as a simple means to control the environment around you.  This has become a prime design consideration today, to make sure that the installed products can be controlled by an app.

Above images show the different Software Apps available on both iPhone and iPads, depending on the needs of the client. Some of the software vendors we use are Clipsal Wiser, Ness EKey RTI and Command Fusion.  We have found the Command Fusion product to be the best to deliver an all round comprehensive result for multiple system control, how ever sometimes for budget reasons, if there is only one predominant system (for example CBus) then that manufacturers offering will meet the performance expectation and budget expectation.

Some project examples are as follows:

Project 1/  The home has CBus for lighting, heating and security and you dont need audio visual control, and will most of the time just use an iPhone for access.
We would recomend the Clipsal Wiser, as the best outcome.
Note:  The Wiser interface does not have graphics for the iPad, so it just enlarges the iPhone graphics to a grainy resolution, and does not therefore add more room on the screen for more buttons / functions.
This option may need a WiFi gateway and some network programming.
Licence fee: None (you get what you pay for, low res on iPad, good on iPhone)

Project 2/  The home has CBus for lighting and heating and cooling, the security system is a Ness (because we have finger print readers on the doors and gates) and you need some audio visual control, and will most of the time just use an iPad for access.
We would recomend the RTI "Pannel app", as the best outcome.
Note:  The RTI system requires an RTI X series processor to connect to the various devices on the system.
This option will need a WiFi gateway and some network programming.
Licence fee: about $200 per i Device, licence attached to the RTI processor serial number

Project 3/  The home has CBus for lighting, seperate heating and cooling and a high end security system (with finger print readers), IP cameras and recording system and you also have multi room audio and a home theatre system to control, and a pool controller (Jandy brand has an interface) and will want to control the home from a combination of iPads mounted in the wall, free floating iPads, iPhones both inside the house and remotley (from work, airport etc.)
We would recomend Command Fusion, as the best outcome.
Note: This option will need a WiFi gateway and some network programming.
Licence fee: about $200 per i Device, licence attached to the i Device serial number

There are many different scenarios, this is just an over view to help explain choices.

Thre are other products in the market place such as "Push controls" which although quite good, do not fit with our business model of choosing scaleable products.  Most of the other products in the market place are audio visual based and do not translate well in the general home contol model.
